Review: Raging Speedhorn – Night Wolf

Raging Speedhorn

Night Wolf

Spinefarm

Few bands make us more excited to get a kicking than Raging Speedhorn. Right from the off the serrated dual vocals of Frank Regan and Dan Cook carve right into your cranium with the Jim Palmer’s six string attack sounding vast, heavy and most of all phenomenally groove laden. Epic opener Blood Red Sky slays with it’s wide-screen desert stomp. The Clutch-esque off kilter of Buzz Killa with it’s command, “Don’t Be Dick!” Sounds primed for a live sing along. Elsewhere, Can’t Stop sounds like a lost Pantera track at least vocally and Every Night’s Alright For Fighting is the soundtrack to your next nosebleed. Everything groove here is catchy as hell and rock solid, as is evident on anthem in waiting, title track Night Wolf. One thing that’s a very huge factor here is production hero Russ Russell’s Midas touch on this collection, the sound is imperious! Dead Men Can’t Dance has a sneaky organ under the mix that definitely brings the boogie and Closer Dead Reckoning seals the deal with a trademark Speedhorn stomp that reminds of the excitement we had when they first shook the UK scene to its foundations. Strap in for a rough, wild ride Raging Speedhorn are back for blood
