Review: Liliths Army – Doll

Liliths Army

Doll

Criminal Records

Remember when those garage bands were pricking consciences and giving you a true alternative to slick 90s production? Do you miss those days? Well hold that pint because Liliths Army have brought that sound and style right up to date with this banger of an album. ‘Doll’ proves you don’t have to be tying yourself in knots with your writing to get feet stomping and heads banging. There are little snippets of L7, Bikini Kill and Mudhoney in the mix, even a nod towards Babes In Toyland. You get more than enough variation to keep things interesting. So much so ‘Helpless’ features violin and cello, and magnificent they sound too. While the mainstream radio stations play soulless pop pap Liliths Army have dropped a work with the heart of a lion. Turn it up to eleven and go nuts!
