Review: Ghostwound – Ghostwound

Ghostwound

Go Down Records

Sounding like they’re from another planet, Milan based psychedelic four piece Ghostwound invade ours with jingly jangly guitar grooves running right through their trippy, spacey debut. Their self-titled album is a lovely little example of musicians staying true to the styles they wanna play. ‘Ghostwound’ is technical, intricate and unique. Opening track title ‘Funky Robot’ doubles up as a decent description of the tune. ‘Rojava’ gets proper scuzzy. ‘Coffee Grounds Revelations’ is utterly blissed out – with some mad use of synths and effects pedals. Prone to wander off into musical breaks for miles, Ghostwound are some seriously good musicians. The many minutes without vocals take your mind with them. Full of hypnotic hooks with soft basslines and beats swirling beneath, dreamy vocals drop in on occasion to complete the warm psychedelic embrace of ‘Ghostwound’. It’s a bit bonkers – but if you’re still reading this you probably are too. All the best people are.
