DELLA NOVA
Della Nova
Self-Released
As you’d expect from a band who present their name in capital letters, DELLA NOVA are no shrinking violets. With a bold, brash, bombastic sound this London-based band burst from the speakers like the proverbial bull in a china shop. As with many groups who operate as a three-piece this (unholy) trinity conjure a sound that’s earth shaking and truly awe-inspiring. Their eponymously-titled debut album arrives fully formed and contains eleven tracks which bring to mind Royal Blood at their blistering best, but don’t write DELLA NOVA off as mere copyists because they’ve definitely found their signature sound and they rock it with confidence. There are nods to ‘70s rock in the muscular riffs and gnarly solos, yet there’s also a futuristic quality to cuts such as ‘Rise With The Wind’ that comes from a genre as yet undiscovered. Flowing like an old school album (with a few inventive instrumentals stitching the songs together), this is a record best consumed in one sitting to fully appreciate its ululation. Taking their name from a secret magical order active in the 1980s, DELLA NOVA seem certain to cast a spell over the record-buying public.
