Review: Fit For An Autopsy – The Nothing That Is

Fit For An Autopsy

The Nothing That Is

Nuclear Blast

Fit For An Autopsy are a band that stands out from the deathcore collective in terms of imagination. The three-guitar blast courtesy of everyone’s favourite riff master and in demand producer Will Putney alongside Patrick Sheridan and Tim Howley is razor sharp. This album ups the ante, much in the same way Whitechapel removed themselves from the pack by pushing into width and cinematic heft. Opening with Hostage, the stage is set, and this is definitely an evolving band whilst still hitting all the right pressure points, the scatter bomb riffing here is stunning as are the powerhouse vocals of Joe Badolato and the ballistic rhythm section of Peter Spinazola and Josean Orta.

This is truly a band on fire. Savior Of None has fury in abundance and make no mistake when they want to kill, they still kill the old way. There’s an ethereal darkness hanging over this album as displayed on the void like middle section of Weaker Wolves where a distorted Badolato rants into the void or on The Nothing That Is when it literally feels like we’re standing on the precipice of oblivion, or on climactic end track The Silver Sun. This is an album designed to be listened to in full, a cohesive body of work that explores deeper territories and more soaring highs than you’ve heard before from this cutting-edge act.
