West Yorkshire’s only goth festival Goth City returns in July for it’s seventh edition, following the success of it’s new summer schedule last year.
Taking place in a new summer schedule between 13th and 16th July, ‘Goth City 7: To Live & Die in LS’ is a city-wide musical and cultural festival that celebrates the gothic and post-punk heritage of the city and of Yorkshire generally. Events include gigs, clubs, discussions, spoken word, acoustic and social events at three venues in the city centre. Befitting the DIY and underground spirit of the event, the festival is held at the best alternative venues across the city, including the co-operatively owned Wharf Chambers, renowned underground Leeds’ venues Boom and the Fox & Newt, and Leeds’ legendary alternative venue The Warehouse
Headliners this year include original West Yorkshire goths Skeletal Family who return with a new album, rising dark electronic act Auger who are wowing fans across Europe, and ’90s UK goth titans Children On Stun who remain one of the most important bands on the scene.
All proceeds from Goth City Promotions events during the festival are donated to PAFRAS (Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers), a local charity for destitute refugees and asylum seekers. The festival has raised over £18,000 for PAFRAS during its first five years.
