Night Hag – Self-Released

Tame this record is not. Vampiric vocals, grinding bass, hellish heavy riffs, yes. An easy listen, no. And nor should it be. ‘Night Hag’ is the debut album from Irish four-piece The Risen Dread, and is a concept album with mental illness at its core. Serious stuff. With serious music to match. If you’re in the mood for a relentless onslaught of tracks which hit you like a ton of bricks, this’ll do nicely. ‘Bury Me’ hits such a low register it made Devo’s eye twitch. ‘Obsession’ piledrives even deeper down to into the depts of harsh, abrasive noise. This is heavy. HEAVY. HEAVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY. ‘Night Hag’ is at the extreme end of extreme. The Risen Dread are in danger of making Cannibal Corpse look chart-bloody-friendly if they carry on at this rate.
