Rakshak – Self Released

East meets west in the best possible way on this fantastic debut album from Delhi rap metal stars Bloodywood. Already well known thanks to a high presence on social media and YouTube this hotly anticipated record doesn’t disappoint. Channelling acts such as Rage Against The Machine (see their video Raj Against The Machine), Limp Bizkit and Pantera this is an act that you can easily imagine soaring to great heights in double quick time. Rakshak is full of familiar sounds given a spicy twist. You get hints of more traditional Indian folk under the surface coupled with some delicious twin clean and scream vocals. Bloodywood aren’t frightened to mix things up and they have the talent to make sure everything fits perfectly. Rakshak isn’t just a stonking set of songs, it’s a gateway to a whole new world of possibilities.
