Doro
Triumph And Agony Live – Metal Blade
Take a classic album by and iconic artist and record it live. Many have done this and often the results are underwhelming. Doro’s final outing under the Warlock moniker is all triumph, and agony free, which will please fans old and new. The heart of why this is such a fine live set is partly to do with the sympathetic way it’s been recorded and mastered. There’s crispness and clarity but without the eradication of atmosphere. With the re-emergence of vinyl as a playing medium you can imagine this record suiting a good old fashioned hammering at 33rpm particularly well. Another reason why this works so well is that the song writing has stood the test of time. Sure it’s all fist pumping metal and (fake) leather, but Doro is simply majestic. All hail the queen, we salute you.
