Charm Before The Storm EP – Self Released

Things tend to happen in threes. Good things in the case of I Am Pariah. The nattily entitled ‘Charm Before The Storm EP’ gets the job done and the point across in a minimal number of tracks, but with maximum metal attitude. Leading the charge, ‘Suck It Up’ is a powerful tune musically and lyrically. It’s one of those special songs that is so well written, it’s as though it has always existed. ‘Sicko’ is spikey, shouty and loud, loud, LOUD. It has a sophisticated punk attitude backed by thundering bass and a surge of nu metal guitars. ‘Kill The Modern World’ brings us down gently before we step off the I Am Pariah merry go round. It’s a finishing track full of feelings – born in our real world and translated into riffs. ‘Charm Before The Storm EP’ may have a running time of less than 12 minutes, but I Am Pariah have achieved something pretty special in this short time.
