Slumlords Of New Jersey – Self Released
Guaranteed goodtime guitar band, New Jersey four piece Rahway, have set us up with a five track EP which rocks, shocks, surprises and includes a cover of ‘Jet’ originally by Paul McCartney And Wings. As you do. Opener ‘Acetylene’ revs up proceedings nicely with a spikey, raw, punk feel. ‘Stone’ drops more of a heavier tone. ‘Only The Strong’ is a rocking, groovesome track which shows its true colours through wailing guitars and vocals, underpinned by pounding yet slick drums. ‘Sugar’, on the other hand, is a complete curveball – it’s a gentle (ish), dare we say it … rock ballad (again, ish) … And ‘Jet’ is, well, ‘Jet! Wooooo oooooo oooooo oooooooooooooooooo.’ ‘Slumlords Of New Jersey’ is a solid statement.
