Bit of a blast from the past going on here. And by that we mean a nuclear blast. You’d expect nothing less from New York’s hardcore speed metal veterans Pro-Pain. Yet ‘Stone Cold Anger’ delivers so much more. Those signature unforgiving, harsh vocals scrape their way through the ten tracks of Pro-Pain’s first release in 11 years. ‘Stone Cold Anger’ is, indeed, angry, resentful, dissatisfied and pulverising. But it’s also melodic, meaningful and moving. Chucking out chugging, choking tunes left, right and centre, Pro-Pain don’t strike any compromises. They simply strike – with their music that is more like caustic substances than songs. Over three decades into their musical career, Pro-Pain are still battle-ready, radioactive bruisers who have kept their punk spirit and raw sound. And by the sounds of ‘Stone Cold Anger’, there’s still plenty of fight in these boys.
