Review: Beth Blade & The Beautiful Disasters – Vintage Rebel x Trauma Bond

Beth Blade & The Beautiful Disasters

Vintage Rebel x Trauma Bond

Self-Released

For their latest album UK rockers Beth Blade & The Beautiful Disasters explore the duality of being alive, using music as a tool for both escapism and healing, and as befits such weighty topics, this record is divided in two halves. The first, Vintage Rebel, finds the band mining rock’s rich legacy to serve up six tracks that fizz and sparkle and celebrate everything that’s great about rock music. Full of huge choruses, explosive solos and plenty of cowbell (who could resist that?), Beth and crew immediately adhere themselves to the listener by putting their own stamp on familiar themes and the likes of ‘Down The Front’ are full of that life-affirming attitude that only this kind of majestic rock can convey. The second act, Trauma Bond, finds the band taking a darker turn, moving into modern rock territory to explore the struggle and strife of modern life. It creates a nice foil between the two, the light and shade, and ensures both halves lock together like the yin and yang. In doing so the band have produced an album that hangs as a cohesive whole and one that stands as a career best. Trauma healed.
