Review: Liv Sin – Close Your Eyes

LIV SIN

Close Your Eyes

Seek and Strike

Formed from the ashes of Swedish metal band Sister Sin, vocalist Liv Jagrell took what was great about that band, added a modern twist and channelled it into LIV SIN. A quintet who play a riff-centric brand of metal, LIV SIN have aged like the proverbial wine and their fourth long player finds them honing their craft into a potent brew. The addition of two new guitarists has infused the band with fresh blood and with no time to waste opening track ‘Praise The Winners’ comes screaming from the speakers like a howling banshee. Not recommended for those with heart conditions, it proves LIV SIN an unstoppable force and one powered forwards by their own manic energy. While the band have put a modern twist on metal, they haven’t tore up their roots (neither musically nor culturally) and fans of Judas Priest, Malice, and Metal Church will find much to admire in songs such as ‘Shades Of The Sun’, whilst those with a penchant for history will revel in the folk tales which serve as lyrical inspiration. Rolling the past and present into one perfect package, Close Your Eyes finds LIV SIN wide-eyed and ready to take on the world.
