Bella Eterna
Fire EP
Strict Tempo
Dark wave has been a staple of the alt club scene for, it would seem, eons. The gothic moodiness mixed with danceable beats is something of an irresistible force finding favour even outside of the shadows and in the light of dare we say it, more mainstream venues. Listening to the Fire EP you can hear why. Good music they say is just that. It speaks to people across the board. And the songs on this mini album are seriously good. Yes, you get the broodiness in the vocals, the film noir vibe from the keys and the late 80s ambience. It wouldn’t work without all of that. But this is also full of fresh arrangements, a cool production and a sense it’s in the now not the rear view mirror. There’s a great Alpha Sect re-mix of ‘The Desert And Me’ thrown in for good measure too, a dance floor filler if ever there was one. Above all this is an EP you can appreciate anywhere, not just on a night out.
