With all the interest in anime and the popularity of modern metal it’s astonishing it took this long to meld the two into an album title. Well Slovenian trio Within Destruction have beaten everyone to it now and a big slice of fun it is too. Fully embracing electronica and siting it at the heart of the music alongside the big hooks and pounding rhythms has given this fine and consistent work an ultra-modern feel. It’s a full sound which is amazing considering this is a three piece playing. Recreating this live should be interesting. There are little nods to their deathcore origins in there but this is a band who have changed direction a fair bit over the years. You also get some unlikely but well executed harmonies too. You kind of get the feeling these are musicians keen to progress and get ahead of the curve. In this and much more they’ve well and truly succeeded.
