The loveless
Meet The loveless – Cadiz Entertainment
The Loveless is comprised of Marc Almond on Vocals from Soft Cell, Neal X from Sique Sigue Sputnik and Adam Ants Band plus Iggy Pop’s touring rhythm section Mat Hector and Ben Ellis. Not to forget Glen Matlock from The Sex Pistols features on a track for good measure. At first glance, you may dismiss this as nothing more than a covers band but with this group of seasoned professionals at the helm, we ask you to give it a chance. We’ll put a pin in that for a moment and talk about the two original tracks on offer. Kicking off with ‘Wild In The Streets’ we like that it doesn’t seem out of place amongst the litany of classics. Nostalgic, vibrant and fun you wouldn’t have found it out of place if it was blasting from your radio a few decades ago. ‘Nothing At All’ is steeped in 70s rock ‘n roll with that punk edge and attitude to boot. These songs feel like an ode to a time gone by, an era perfectly captured by those who lived it, worked it and loved it. Some of the covers include ‘Pills’ by Bo Diddley with Matlock, ‘I’m Not Like Everybody Else’ by The Kinks and Alice Cooper’s ‘Under My Wheels’. Every cover feels like it honours each artist with the attention to detail and care taken to recreate and also give new life to them. This is a feel-good old school rock n roll album by dudes that know what they are doing.
