Themed on the way time itself forms us and our lives ‘Aeons’ tackles the subject with the kind of gusto Esprit D’air have as their mantra. It reflects on the difficult world we live in right now but is full of positivity. It says that no matter how tough things are there is always a way forward. Led by guitarist and producer Kai this is a technically right on point record – as it seems are all things to come from Japanese musicians. The melodies are beautifully constructed while the arrangements bridge between the modern and a more retro feel. Vocals come through loud, clear and heartfelt. You just know what you hear in your headphones will be recreated perfectly live too such is the band’s reputation. ‘Aeons’ marks another step forward for one of metal’s most consistent acts.
