Mirrorglass
Handle With Care
Self-Released
In an age not so long ago, punk and metal were diametrically opposed and it seemed never the twain would meet. I recall the spat between Guns N’ Roses and Nirvana was particularly feisty, yet genre divisions are toppling and bands such as Ireland’s Mirrorglass are drawing inspiration from both and rolling them into one explosive package. With a riff that could wake the most ardent narcoleptic, ‘Hey Honey!’ encapsulates all that’s good about raunchy rock n’ roll and finds Mirrorglass arriving with pistons pumping and spark plugs firing, and rarely looking back through forty furious minutes. With wise heads on young shoulders, Mirrorglass throw blink-and-you’ll- miss it ragers (‘Let’s Go To Mine’) into the mix, along with more measured cuts like ‘Ghost Town’ and the result is an album that ebbs and flows perfectly, and one which could rival anything their influences released. Having formed in 2022 in Cavan, the road to their debut album has been a rocky one, but adversity breeds strength and Handle With Care finds Mirrorglass flexing their (considerable) musical muscles. The sound contained within is incendiary and highly flammable, so…Handle With Care.
