Review: Three Days Grace – Alienation

Three Days Grace

Alienation

RCA Records

‘Here we f*cking go’ screams the opening line of Three Days Grace’ colossal new album. And that sums the whole thing up pretty damn well. These Canadian titans have always been able to turn their hands to any type of song. Ballads, bangers and everything in between. ‘Alienation’ has all of this. It’s relentless in its power, poignant in its reflection and constantly cutting in its lyrics and concepts, which continue to play out in your head long after the last note. With original vocalist Adam Gontier rejoining, the band’s fire power has gone through the roof. Melting faces with grade I listed ragers like menacing and anthemic ‘Dominate’ and ‘Mayday’. Giving that feeling of tears pricking eyeballs via ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight’, ‘Apologies’ and ‘Kill Me Fast’. They can still conjure that crawling, unsettling feeling too which really gets the point across in ‘Never Ordinary’. ‘Alienation’ is Three Days Grace at their most full-blooded.
