Fan of Gwar??? ‘The Return of Gor Gor’ is gonna give you the great big bonkers shock rock fix that you desperately crave. Three new tracks including big top thrasher, circus sound sampler ‘The Great Circus Train Disaster’ front the band’s musical celebration of their pet dinosaur returning. This review the first time Gwar have appeared on your radar??? Oh God, we don’t know how to break it to you, but this album may well leave a scar. Much like doing the maths for Bryan Adams’ ‘Summer of ‘69’, you can’t go back after hearing ‘The Return of Gor Gor’. Nothing will ever be the same. Imagine Avatar consenting to what Steel Panther sing about pretty much 24/7 and invite Kiss along. Actually, don’t. Don’t do it to yourself. But that’s what Gwar sound like across the three new tracks on ‘The Return of Gor Gor’. The live tracks let you into their feeding frenzy esque shows, featuring the band’s trademark interaction with their fans, who can clearly be heard lapping up every last sweary and often puerile drop. Without the theatrics Gwar are a decent metal band. With the costumes, concepts and God only knows what, they are both mind-blowing and head-scratching in equal measure. Bands like Gwar keep the world turning.
