Ukrainian Riot Grrl Trio ‘Death Pill’ Take Their New Album on the Road
Back in June Mariana, Natalia and Anastasiia aka Death Pill, dropped their highly anticipated second album ‘SOLOGAMY’. A sonic step up from their debut, drawing in hardcore, punk, grunge, thrash, riot grrrl, emo and more. It confirmed them as a truly ferocious and versatile musical force.
But of course, being from Ukraine … making a record was not going to be an easy task. In 2022 the trio were forced apart by Russia’s invasion Ukraine and the ensuing (and continuing war). Drummer Anastasiia went to Spain with her young son and bassist Natalia to Australia. Singer/guitarist Mariana remained in Kyiv. Though they managed to complete their first album before they had to separate, that was not the case when it came to the second. The trio of friends continue to live apart, though technology enables them to stay in touch of course. In fact, that’s how ‘Sologamy’ came to be. It was painstakingly conceived, coordinated and recorded remotely, the trio delivering their parts ‘over the wire’ so to speak. Not that you would know it on listening, as reviewers testified.
‘A record of staggering musicianship fuelled by an untamed fury’ – The Line of Best Fit
‘Their songs are short, sharp and occasionally intoxicating’ – Wire Magazine
‘Anger spills over … spit flying as they switch between hardcore, punk and 80’s thrash– Metal Hammer
‘Roars and burns with all the molten fury of the best punk and metal’ – Spin
‘An album crafted with technically across continents but completed by the burning ambition and bond of between these three women’ – Musipedia Of Metal
In fact, that last review says it all. The drive and determination of these ladies made ‘Sologamy’ happen, and now thanks to that coupled with a unique cross borders, cross cultural collaboration and celebration, Death Pill can bring their full throttle punk rock to you in the flesh.
Death Pill have been selected to join 20+ of the best female/trans/non-binary-powered badass bands in the world to play the 10th anniversary LOUD WOMEN Fest. It’s an all-ages gig which takes place at London’s Rich Mix on Saturday 6th September.
Their appearance at Loud Women festival is supported by the British Council in Ukraine in partnership with the Ukrainian Institute and the Cultural Diplomacy Foundation within the framework of the UK–Ukraine 100-Year Partnership.

It must be said that this will be only the third time Mariana, Anastasiia and Natalia will have seen each other in person since they were forced apart in 2022. The first was in 2023, where thanks to the support and passion of the various DIY punk communities, Death Pill were able to undertake a small European tour. Now in 2025, that same spirit of collaboration, commitment and solidarity has meant that Death Pill will not only be appearing at Loud Women but will be playing a series of dates in the UK as well.

Not only that, but the label are also pleased to announce that to tie in with the tour, Dan Baskerville’s poignant short film of the band ‘Go Your Way’ will be available to stream for the first time courtesy of the ‘Doc ‘n’ Roll’ organisation.
“Doc ‘n’ Roll is a woman-led film agency that platforms and champions marginal voices in the music industry; we are passionate about independent film and music of all genres. Our mission is to celebrate music subcultures by providing a unique platform to support creative, compelling and unforgettable documentaries that celebrate the performers, labels, scenes and stories.”
It’s without a doubt a fitting platform to host the film.
‘Go Your Way’ follows the band on the UK leg of their 2023 and has already been shown at several small film festivals in 2024 and won ‘Best Short Film’ at the LA Punk Film Festival.
Now the film will exclusively be available to view on the fabulous ‘Doc ‘N’ Roll TV’ platform from September 8th here: https://www.docnrollfestival.com/docn-roll-tv/
To coincide with this, the band will be hosting a special ‘Go Your Way’ film screening and party at Helgi’s, London on 8th September
