A Light On The Horizon
SBAM Records
Finding time to write an album can’t be easy for a band who tour constantly. They’ll be celebrating their 800th gig this Saturday (19/7/25 for those late to the review). An astonishing achievement given their relative youthfulness. The upside to this is that this hard grafting three piece are permanently in the groove. You can hear just how much right throughout this bright and breezy album. It vibes ‘live performance’ from start to finish, a natural extension of what fans love about Slackrr. It keeps the core elements that make them almost irresistible, those big melodies and vocal harmonies. There’s big progression here too though. The writing is more dynamic. Each song is crafted by musicians maturing together and willing to push themselves. Lyrically it covers those everyday topics that face most of us, and because of that it connects at a very basic level. Rather than get bogged down in woe it has hope as its central theme. Its positivity about the future shouts even from the title. Most importantly everything on the album will be a blast when heard at a venue. ‘A Light On The Horizon’ is a next generation pop punk triumph.
