Brake Loose
Frenetic EP
Symphonic Distribution
Exploding sweeter than a plume of icing sugar, ‘Dancing on the Red Line’ shimmers and sparkles with a gorgeously jaunty hook, fleet-footed vocals and a Killers-esque thrill. This life-affirming opener swells into the most melodic, joyful chorus and ends with a brief spoken word section of the best advice ever – to forget all cares and dance. It’s an exciting and enticing start to this lovely little EP which exposes us to what this Dublin band have got in their armoury. ‘Treat Her Like a Rose’ unleashes the guitar firepower fronted by vocals with a slight snarl. Unrelenting drums and a dirty bassline ignite ‘Love On Fire’, with guitar solos making the whole track burn even hotter and brighter. But it’s the filthy heavy riff outro that makes Brake Loose guilty of saving the best ‘til last on this track. Lead singer Alex Murillo’s haunting vox is right at the front of the mix in heavenly ‘Kiss Me Bye Bye’, before he screams like he’s just come from (or is trying to get into) Hell. ‘REBEL REBEL (Evil Like the Devil)’ (which is well on its way to 200,000 Spotify streams btw) wraps up this killer record with rock chart savvy and class. ‘Frenetic’ is a delicious EP that’ll sink its fangs right into your willing neck.
