Who Will Look After The Dogs?

Rise Records

When it comes to punk rock, Canada has unrivalled pedigree: DOA, Fucked Up, and Sum 41 have all blazed a trail to the global consciousness. However, such titans also cast a long shadow and raise the bar exceptionally high for all who follow. If PUP feel daunted walking in such illustrious footsteps, it doesn’t show and they’ve picked up a host of awards whilst releasing a bunch of chart-busting albums along the way. Their fifth long player is certain to continue their upward trajectory, containing a dozen diverse tracks that shake and shimmy and, whether listened to when skateboarding or slam dancing, are sure to go down a storm. PUP are now entering their fifteenth year as a band and it’s heartening to hear that time hasn’t diluted their chutzpah and opening track ‘No Hope’ fizzes with the same kind of effervescence that characterised their debut album. Over the next 37-minutes PUP deliver a selection of rockers and ravers, showstoppers and (potential) chart toppers that are pulled together by an unbridled and inextinguishable enthusiasm. As such, this album never becomes staid and constantly throws up surprises. Who Will Look After The Dogs? PUP, of course!
