Ghostseeker
Divergence
Roar
Modern metal? Melodic metal? Metalcore erm Metal???? Futuristic, apocalyptic, progressive, whatever else ya got metal? Ghostseeker are all of these if you’re after a genre or six. But at the same time they’re none of these, because this band is one of a kind. Dual voices run attention-grabbing growls and pitch perfect gorgeousness alongside each other, giving this album an edge sharp enough to draw blood. The vocal and musical strength of ‘The Looking Glass’ blows you backwards but you’ll still fight the flying shards to come back in and continue listening to this track. Vocally violent ‘Wake Up (Imposter)’ is eye wideningly loud, with the viciousness calmed a little by Celeste Bojczuk’s mesmerising, angelic vox. This is a track pleading to be played live. ‘Divergence’ is a ferocious listen. But just when Daniel Breen’s throat slashing roars are about to leave a scar, Celeste’s vocals come in to cleanse. This is an amazing – no – astonishing – debut album.
