Review: Sisters Doll – Scars

Sister Doll

Scars

Self Released

Upon hearing Sister Doll’s new album you’d be forgiven for thinking this band of brothers were an overnight sensation and with stadium-ready anthems such as ‘Climbing Out Of Hell’ in their arsenal, that’d be understandable. The truth is that these four siblings formed in Collie, Western Australia, in 2010 and since then have been honing their unique brand of glam rock into a razor sharp point. Dripping with attitude and exploding with volcanic force, Sister Doll have been touted as the heirs apparent to Van Halen and Mötley Crüe, and on the strength of these twelve tracks, that’s an assertion hard to argue against. They’re certainly versatile enough to claim the crown and Scars features ballads amongst the rockers (‘Don’t Give Up On Us’) along with tracks that could swing with Pantera (‘Baby Doll’). But mainly this crew deliver songs that are full of air guitar inducing solos and tush shaking rhythms (in short, all that makes music great) and that renders them extremely likeable. At the end of every festival the burning question arises each year as to who will be future headliners, Sister Doll could just be the answer.
