Review: Indignation Meeting – A Model World

Indignation Meeting

A Model World

Damaged Goods Records

When we read ‘punky rail fans’ as a description of this band we were wondering if there was a punk genre we had missed out on. Indignation Meeting  is possibly the first and only punk band heavily influenced by all things to do with the UK railway and trains.  They are fronted by 15 year-old Peter who also plays drums. On the album he plays trumpet and bass and is primarily the lyrical genius behind the tracks. The band also consists of Peter’s Father Michael on guitar and Hugo on bass. This isn’t their first album either but their second that is heavily influenced by their love of all things trains, how they are run and their history. This album boasts 12 tracks and we think you need to be imaginative and passionate to find so much material primarily on one subject. However they do include a few tracks on other topics such as ‘Case Study’ and ‘Just For The Record’ which touch on social issues such as how strikers can be misrepresented by the media. They also cover ‘A Typical English Day’ by The Astronauts and put their own spin and flavour to it. We’re impressed by Peter’s vocals, sounding beyond his years however he has been involved in creating music from as young as ten years old! The band have an overall old school punk style in sound while maintaining their originality. Their lyrics are clever, sometimes informative, catchy and really quite unlike anything you’ll have heard by anyone else.
