Review: Steal The City – Road To Nowhere

Steal The City
Road To Nowhere– Self-Released

Sometimes, all you want to do is chuck an album on and have a good time with it. Not in the
sense of a party album, but just upbeat, positive rock. Which is where Steal The City come in
with their debut ‘Road To Nowhere’.
From the off, “Drag Me To Hell” chunks with riffs and soars with twin guitar melodies, whilst
the defiance of “In Ruins” will make anyone want to tell an oppressive authoritative figure to
do one. The more gentle nature of “Knight The Unholy” and the poignant “Tomorrow’s
Another Day”, with their use of piano, change up the sound a little for a bit of variety, but
where Joe Chuggy and his crew excel is in those hard rock riffs. See “Up In Smoke” for a
prime example of them at their fastest and most aggressive.
If you are looking for an impassioned, vibrant rock record that simply does the business of
producing solid songs with contemporary themes in the lyrics, then these Sheffield, UK,
upstarts will sort you right out. The album may suggest leading nowhere, but these chaps
could very well be headed somewhere
