This coming-of-age record is Cassyette’s most personal yet, and an anthology of collected feelings that address the nature of living in today’s society. Cassyette holds nothing back across the 15-track album as she tackles a range of complex subject matters from grief to substance abuse, nihilism and more. Created alongside long-term collaborators Tylr Rydr, Olly Burden and Olivia Sebastianelli and more, ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ includes previous singles ‘Friends In Low Places’, ‘Ipecac’‘Over It’ and ‘Why Am I Like This?’,in addition to new focus track ‘Say My Name’. Sonically, Cassyette once again proves her effortless ability to blend genres whether it’s the drum and bass influenced ‘Sex Metal’, guttural screams of ‘When She Told Me’ or the beautiful strings and guitar of ‘Dear Sister’.

Speaking about the release of her debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ Cassyette said: “I’m so excited for this album to be out in the universe. It’s everything to me. I’ve put my whole heart into it and it most definitely is full of heart. This has been over a year in the making and months have gone into intricately producing it.

I am so proud of this record and It has been such a therapeutic process for me after losing dad and everything else that happened in my life since. I’ve tried my best to not surrender to the darkness that comes with grief but it has been such a journey. Life can take you down some real dark and scary pathways and I was in the thick of it while I was writing ‘This World Fucking Sucks’.

It’s a journey and that’s what this album is. It has many shades, not forgetting to embrace the lightness where we can. To anyone that’s going through a tricky time I hope they will comfort in listening to it.

Remember we are all in this together.”

This album marks the first project released via 23 Recordings, a new label imprint in partnership ADA & Atlantic Records, focusing on championing and releasing music in the alternative line outside of the generic structures of typical label deals.

Cassyette also kicked off a series of in-store signings and performances across the UK this week. Beginning in Kingston Upon Thames yesterday, Cassyette will visit Brighton, London, Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester, before finishing up in Glasgow on August 30th. On November 12th, Cassyette will also play a special intimate show at London’s Courtyard Theatre, the first headline venue she ever played after the release of Dear Goth.
