Solestial
Exordium – Self Released
Solestial may be relatively new to the scene but they’ve clearly got the bit between their teeth if this punchy EP is anything to go by. With the metal market currently at saturation point you have to be more than just competent to make yourself heard. Anything less than excellent, anything sounding like everything else just won’t cut it. Exordium is superior in a number of areas. First up the twin vocal attack may now be a common feature in bands but here it shines with balance being found in a way some more experienced acts could learn a thing or two from. The songs are arranged well and twist and turn with a level of welcome unpredictability. And the production is very decent too. It’s not super slick but still brings out each instrument and the vocals with clarity. Just what you want on a heavy music record. The whole set of songs have a driving rhythm to them that allows the EP to flow making you want to listen to the end. Solestial are making the right kind of noise at the right time, let’s hope a few summer festivals take notice and book them because they’d go down a treat.
