Review: Any Given Day – Limitless

Any Given Day
Limitless – Arising Empire
Some record labels act like a seal of quality, once you see their logo then you know you’re in for
some good music. That’s certainly the case with Arising Empire, a German label who have their
finger firmly on metal’s pulse. Their latest release comes from Any Given Day, a metalcore
quintet who are taking the genre into new realms of heaviness. Swinging like the proverbial
wrecking ball, ‘Get That Done’ is a crushing opener and one which throws its considerable
weight around. Flitting between clean and gruff vocals, Dennis Diehl has an impressive range
and his expressive style acts like another instrument, meaning that Any Given Day are a quintet
who sound far bigger than their constituent parts. So far three singles have been culled from
Limitless, but any of these eleven cuts could have been chosen, each being heavy as hell but
infused with melody, with ‘H.A.T.E.’, a collaboration with label mates Annisokay, being
particularly feisty. Limitless is the band’s fourth album (and second for Arising Empire) and
proves their ambition remains unbound, and this could be the album that propels them from their
native Germany towards global recognition.
