Omen – Arising Empire
Imagine, if you dare, Rage Against The Machine and Linkin Park blended together with a bit more metalcore and a pinch more synths. That’s what opening track ‘Hypocrite’ sounds like. Then scrap all that, because second song ‘Sinner’ is nothing like the above. It’s more melodic and gentle, and enunciated clearly. ‘Sober’ is similar. Then forget all that, because ‘Anxiety’ hits the drums like Slipknot gone feral. And so the musical contradictions continue. Damn it, Of Virtue. Do you not realise we only have 150 words to review ‘Omen’? Right, well, for the sake of word limits, let’s summarise… ‘Omen’ brings a lot of different paces and sounds that can go from menacing to almost pop. Now, if that range doesn’t make you want to listen, what will???
