Swimming Witches – Black Doomba Records

Delivering their first full length debut album, HolyRoller brings their own essence of psychedelic stoner rock. With 1970s influences infused with more modern twists throughout making a fresh sound. Their first track and single release ‘Atheist Prayer’ immediately kicks off with powerful vocals from Adam Cody, featuring grooving guitars and slapping bass leading to slick guitar solos. It’s the perfect opening for what is to follow and is sure to get you bobbing along to the beat. Each song offers something a bit different however, ‘Last Embrace’ is a stand out track which delivers musically and lyrically with its retro sound and classic stoner rock vibes. Leading with dark, slow and heavy tones, then mixing it up part the way through with some fiery riffs. ‘With Time’  is catchy, but is more of a slow burner. The record ends title track ‘Swimming Witches’ which has a strong start, flows well and ends the album strongly.  Overall Swimming Witches features memorable hooks, and showcases the musical skills of the band members well. The hard rock edge and various influences makes it stand out compared to the typical stoner metal sound.
