Tipped to be their last album and retiring from touring in 2023, Cockney Rejects have released a perfect mix showcasing their ever-evolving sound throughout their 40 decades. ‘We Were Never Bothered’ begins with gentle guitar before hitting you with high-energy punk rock riffs, lyrics, and vocals that feel nostalgic and fresh all at the same time. ‘Paper Tiger’ holds no punches from the start and you can hear more 80s hard rock elements starting to creep in. ‘Get Your Shit Together’ is an instant sing-a-long anthem and a classic in the making. ‘40 Years Undefeated’ musically feels very glam in its opening. We had to double-check we were still listening to the same album. Soon their undeniable 1970s punk elements are combined making it a song which definitely stands-out . The title track ‘Power Grab’ is teaming with passion with defiant lyrics and blistering guitar solos. Every song on this album stands alone and they haven’t packed it with any fluff. If they chose to go out with a bang they have succeeded in this creation but we believe it also shows how much more they still have to give!
