Year Of The Locust
Year Of The Locust EP – Self Released
Big and bold and (sadly) brief, Year Of The Locust’s four-track release makes the most of its every minute. Full-blooded solid rock number ‘Stay Alive’ smashes straight in and throws its weight around. With a chorus of ‘woahoas’ and a wicked glint in their eye, YOTL let ‘Line Em Up’ swagger through with justified arrogance. The boys ease off and gift us with ballsy rock ballad ‘Whispers In The Dark’. ‘Sorry’ subtly blends in a bit of spoken word to give a stop-everything-and-listen vocal effect. YOTL tell a good tale. Their lyrics don’t rhyme for the sake of it, and these words stand without music. That these guys live it like they love it is so obvious in their music. They came to play and to please. YOTL do good, hard, melodic rock. And they do it really well.
