Pain Of Truth
Pain Of Truth
Daze Style
Born from the volatile streets of Long Island, New York, Pain Of Truth aren’t the type of band who deal in subtleties. Indicative of their approach is ‘Obliteration’, the first cut on their self-titled sophomore album, a track that arrives with little fanfare but is all the more powerful for it. Like a bullet appearing between your eyebrows, you don’t really see it until it connects, and it sets the tone for the eleven tracks to come. The very definition of a “New York minute”, Pain Of Truth don’t use two notes when one will suffice, and the resulting sound is both visceral and violent. Pain Of Truth is an album where the old and new schools collide in cataclysmic fashion; Merauder and Bulldoze are obvious influences, yet the band adds death-metal guitar squeals and hip-hop vocals to their hardcore melee; in fact, they’ll incorporate anything that adds punch. And the likes of ‘Fed By Fear’ and ‘Web Of Lies’ do hit hard; their riff-centric attack puts the listener on the ropes and keeps them there until the final song, ‘Destroy It All’, fades into the ether. Pain Of Truth will leave you battered and bruised, but eager for more.
