Originally conceived as a solo project, Fires In The Distance soon took on a life of its own, evolving into a full band that garnered critical acclaim via two well-received studio albums. Long player number three finds them continuing on an upward trajectory, delivering a set of six finely crafted songs that slowly entwine themselves around the listener like ivy and dig roots deep in your soul. The organic way in which this band grew has been carried over to the music, with tracks such as Of Radiance And Levitation having an earthy quality, as if they are seeds that have been nurtured and are finally blooming. Circadian Promise tends to veer towards the epic, and it’s an aesthetic that’s in perfect sync with the songs; they are sweeping sonic vistas that capture the essence of nature, the enormity of a nowhere ending sky and the vast expanse of an ocean, made three-dimensional by a band who paint their sound with bold colours and subtle pastel shades. By taking all that was great about their first two albums and orienting it towards the future, Fires In The Distance have made themselves a contemporary force, and Circadian Promise indeed proves that life is cyclical.
