Live Review: n0trixx plus supports, Legends Sports Bar, Mansfield

It’s not often sport and music combine at a grass roots level, here in Mansfield though this venue combines both including a boxing academy upstairs and it’s been done with a welcoming atmosphere to all. Cartoons Can’t Die take route one in the heavy stakes with an uncompromising sound that’s perfect to get the crowd moving. Twin vocals add depth. This is a young band on the up.

We get more duality on the mics with Alyris who are both brutal and beautiful at the same time. This time the singing is a more traditional (is that a thing now?) split between guttural screams and a cleaner tone still with heavy fry in places. There are some nice touches in the writing here too, enough to keep the more technically minded happy. It’s a strong outing for a band who could go far.

It’s time for the main event and the lights are blood red and dimmed. Wearing her trademark mask n0trixx oozes class as she moves like a predator both on and off a stage shared with her guitarist. Her music is seductive in the very best way, a blend of metal, trap and synth. She engages every person in the room, encouraging them to not just watch but be a part of the show. When you get past the exceptional stage craft and listen fully you hear someone singing every word with total commitment. And that voice is right on point too, every word is crystal clear. Mansfield laps it all up knowing they are fortunate to have someone so damn good here tonight. Much bigger things must surly lay just around the corner.
